Question 1

What can Control4 control in my home?

Accepted Answer

Control4 brings compatible lighting, shading, TVs, music, home cinema, heating, cooling, security, cameras, door entry and selected smart devices into one simple system. You can use a touchscreen, wall keypad, TV interface, Halo remote, phone, tablet or voice control — rather than juggling multiple apps and remotes.

Question 2

Is Control4 difficult to use?

Accepted Answer

No. A properly designed system should make the home simpler, not more technical. Everyday functions are presented through clearly labelled buttons, room-based controls and tailored scenes such as Good Morning, Away, Movie Night or Goodnight — complex actions happen behind the scenes.

Question 3

Will it still work if the internet goes down?

Accepted Answer

Most day-to-day Control4 control is local, so core functions such as lighting, AV control and programmed scenes can continue to operate within the property during an internet outage. Internet-dependent services — including remote app access, cloud streaming and some third-party integrations — will be unavailable until the connection returns.

Question 4

Can Control4 be installed in an existing home?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Control4 can be introduced as a phased upgrade, starting with one priority — TV/music control, lighting, security or a home cinema — and expanding later. The best approach depends on available cabling, the existing electrical installation, wireless coverage and the devices you want to retain.

Question 5

Can I control my home when I am away?

Accepted Answer

Yes. With remote access enabled, you can use the Control4 app to check and control supported parts of the home from elsewhere — adjusting heating, checking cameras, setting lighting scenes or confirming the house is in Away mode.

Question 6

Are there any ongoing costs?

Accepted Answer

The core system operates locally without a subscription. Optional extras — such as remote access so the app works anywhere in the world, and doorbell calls to your mobile — are available for just £125 per year at the time of writing. We also recommend an annual service visit to keep everything running reliably.

Question 7

How much does a Control4 system cost?

Accepted Answer

The cost depends on the scope: a single-room entertainment upgrade is very different from whole-home lighting, shading, AV, climate and security integration. A useful proposal separates the essential system, optional additions and future expansion items, so you can begin with the functions that matter most and build over time.

Question 8

Can the system be expanded later?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Control4 is designed to integrate multiple home systems, so a well-planned installation can grow from AV or lighting control into additional rooms, shading, climate, security, gates, cameras or further automation.

Question 9

What's included in the free survey?

Accepted Answer

We visit your home, walk through every room, understand how you live, and design a system around your lifestyle and budget. There's no cost and no obligation to proceed.
